Three leagues are dedicating fixtures to Her Game Too around International Women’s Day this weekend.
The Isthmian League, Northern Premier League and Southern Football League, which cover steps three and four of the men's non-league football pyramid and incorporate hundreds of clubs across the country, are encouraging all of the clubs in their leagues to celebrate Her Game Too at their upcoming games.
Angie Firth, Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Premier League, said: “The Northern Premier League is pleased to support the Her Game Too Weekend of Action.
“It’s not just about highlighting the need for more opportunities for women and girls who want to play football, or promoting what is already available; it is to recognise those who volunteer at our clubs and female supporters who turn up every week to watch the games and hopefully encourage others to get involved.
“It is very important that women and girls feel welcome and included at our clubs. As a female administrator working in football, I can say with some conviction it really is 'Her Game Too'.
“We hope those attending grounds for the first time find a way to engage with their club, whether playing, volunteering in some capacity or by simply becoming a regular supporter.”
Stephen Hyde, Diversity Director of the Southern Football League, which incorporates almost 90 clubs reaching from Cornwall to the Suffolk coast, said: “Many of our member clubs celebrate International Women's Day every year and we are keen to support them with this joint Trident League initiative to promote the role girls and ladies play in our national game.
“By dedicating the fixtures on 8 March to Her Game Too, we hope to raise awareness and encourage clubs to engage with a Her Game Too Ambassador to act as a champion at their club, and contribute to eradicating sexism and discrimination from the game.”
Lucy Ford, Co-Founder and Head of Grassroots at Her Game Too, said: "I'm delighted that the Isthmian League, Northern Premier League and Southern Premier League have all come together to collectively support Her Game Too on the weekend of the 8 and 9 March.
“To have so many clubs up and down the country dedicating their upcoming fixtures on International Women's Day to Her Game Too is an incredible show of support.
“We want to say a huge thank you to the Isthmian League, Northern Premier League and Southern League (particularly Lee, Angie and Stephen) for their support in promoting the Her Game Too message."
