NEW KENYA AMBASSADOR AND CONTENT CREATOR JOINS HER GAME TOO

Her Game Too continues to expand its reach with the addition of a new member, Gloria Mariwa.

As a passionate advocate for women in sports, Gloria brings a wealth of experience to her two new roles as both a content creator and Her Game Too’s Kenya Ambassador.

Gloria’s passion for football began while playing in the parking lot of her cousin’s apartment, where she went against expectations and held her own against a group of boys.

A memorable moment, like a well-executed ‘random flick’, fuelled her love for the game, and her professional path reflects her commitment to empowering female athletes and fans.

As the creator of 14thgunner and Wecheza, a platform dedicated to empowering female athletes, Gloria has successfully enhanced fan engagement and elevated the voices of women in sport.

In her personal journey as a footballer, she has faced significant challenges when it comes to gender discrimination.

“In my childhood club, I had to work three times harder to earn a spot on the team,” Gloria recalls.

“There was a persistent belief that having a girl on the team would be a disadvantage.

“That mindset pushed me to constantly prove myself and taught me the value of mental strength when physical strength wasn’t enough.

“On the bright side,  being rotated across positions helped me develop versatility on the pitch; I’ve played as a defender, striker, winger and now as an attacking midfielder, comfortable with both feet.”

Gloria’s resilience and advocacy make her the perfect fit for Her Game Too’s mission to promote inclusivity and challenge gender discrimination in sports.

Gloria is excited to contribute to Her Game Too, seeing it as a natural extension of her existing platform and work in women’s sport.

“Her Game Too’s vision perfectly aligns with my platform 14thgunner, which focuses on promoting and building women’s football.

“I didn’t think twice when Caz (Her Game Too’s Founder and CEO) mentioned this opportunity.”

Looking ahead, Gloria is excited about the campaign’s future.

When asked ‘what would you like to see Her Game Too achieve in the next five years?’ she responded: “I’d love to see Her Game Too become a household name with logos on Champions Leagues kits and having content creators and journalists on the ground as mainstream representatives.”

Gloria hopes, and firmly believes, that “Her Game Too will continue to make a global impact across leagues and sports” and she is excited to be part of the journey.

She was instrumental in the campaign securing its first partnership with an African club, Kayole Starlets, last year.

“I aim to increase global collaboration among organisations, clubs and athletes in women’s sports.

“Her Game Too’s efforts in cricket, rugby and esports show the importance of cross-sport investment.

“I hope to foster meaningful connections between Kenyan women’s clubs and even esports athletes, which could be mutually beneficial.

“In content creation, my aim is to elevate Her Game Too’s brand.

“As a long-time fan and now Kenya Ambassador and content creator, it’s a privilege to contribute to a cause I deeply believe in.”
