Sky Bet Championship side Derby County have become the latest club to partner with Her Game Too.
Partnering with Her Game Too, shows that Derby County align with our values and wants women of all ages to feel safe when attending matches at Pride Park.
Her Game Too was set up three years ago by a group of passionate female football fans, who wanted to support the growth of female football, tackle gender discrimination and misogyny and champion women in all roles in the game.
Her Game Too has since grown with more than 130 volunteers at clubs across the country, who work to ensure football grounds are welcoming and comfortable places for women to visit and play at, coordinate activities and events promoting Her Game Too’s values and share positive stories of the achievements of women in football on social media.
Simran Atwal, Her Game Too Ambassador for Derby County since May 2023, and lifelong Derby County supporter, spoke to us on the partnership.
“Derby County has a significant female fanbase and it is so important that everyone feels welcomed and supported in the community. This partnership shows huge commitment to tackling sexism within the sport and is a big step towards making all female fans feel equally valued and appreciated.
“From a personal perspective, it is incredible to see us collaborate with the campaign I am so passionate about highlighting. It is an honour to represent female Derby County fans, and it means the world that the club has pledged its support of Her Game Too.”
Sophie Roddie, Matchday and Fan Engagement Lead at Derby County, also spoke
to us, “As a club, we’re proud to announce our new partnership with Her Game Too, to help raise awareness and tackle sexism in football, and to further showcase our mission to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for women and girls at our games.
“We have exciting plans in place for 2024/2025 where we will continue to promoted the sportive change and fantastic work delivered across Derby County Football Club, alongside Her Game Too.”
“Being a woman who has supported Derby County throughout my whole life and being hugely passionate that all women and girls feel safe and happy at football games, the partnership between my club and HGT coming together really is amazing to see. I’m really looking forward to the work myself, Simran and Derby are going to do together over the coming season and going forward to promote the message of HGT.
