HER GAME TOO PARTNERS WITH BEADLET

Updated: 4 days ago

The football-themed jewellery brand is the latest partner of Her Game Too.

Her Game Too is pleased to announce a partnership with North Yorkshire-based jewellery brand, Beadlet.

Born out of a shared love of football between mother and daughter duo Angela and Eliza Newton, Beadlet creates a range of modern, feminine jewellery that gives fans a chance to show their colours with bracelets and earrings – and they have big plans to expand their company alongside the growth of the women’s game.

“We started with beaded bracelets and there are currently 40 clubs on offer with more to come, and our most recent products are sterling silver earrings which are oh so pretty!

“Everything is carefully handmade and beautifully packaged. Our goal is to offer a full range of jewellery and other items like make-up bags and silk PJs with subtle club references,” Angela explains.

But it’s not just products; the Newton family want to impact the game as well as fill a gap in the market. “One of the areas of the business we aim to develop in 2025 is our offering to grassroots teams,” she says.

“We have committed to give 10% of all sales back to clubs to further develop the girl’s game, and we have also committed to supporting Her Game Too with merchandise and a percentage of sales.

“The dream is to one day become a kit sponsor and invest money into important research such as female ACL injuries and football boot technology,” Angela says.

While the younger Newton was drawn to sport four years ago when she joined a nearby girls’ football team, Angela has fond memories of falling in love with Arsenal as a girl when her dad took her to Highbury as a birthday gift.

“My dad is from London, and he graced Highbury’s North Bank since he was a boy. Growing up in the ‘70s and ‘80s, it wasn’t popular for girls to play or generally have any interest in the game. My hobby was ballet which I enjoyed until I was 18, but alongside dancing Arsenal was my passion.

“My best memory is the first time my dad took me to Highbury as a 13th birthday present. We drove from Essex, parked on Highbury Hill and walked to the ground. I remember like it was yesterday; the excitement and noise in the streets and the sense of belonging as I proudly wore my red and white Arsenal scarf which I still have.”

In the decades since, the experience of women and girls going to games has massively improved, but Angela knows there’s room for improvement. “Football has come a long way since those early days but there is still so much more to be done,” she says. “Eliza and I have experienced inappropriate behaviour and heard of things being said and done that show there needs to be more education on what is and isn't acceptable.”

Despite the male side of the family being diehard Manchester United fans, the pair support and attend Arsenal men’s and women’s games regularly, forming a special bond between each other and with their club. “My happiest memory of attending a game with my dad is matched only by the first time I took Eliza. Her feelings stepping into The Emirates for the first time were exactly the same as mine many years before – she now calls it her 'Happy Place'.”
