HER GAME TOO ANNOUNCES LUKAS JUTKIEWICZ AS PLAYER ADVOCATE

Written by Finley Chung

Birmingham City Legend Lukas Jutkiewicz becomes the latest Professional Footballer to pledge his allegiance and partnership to Her Game Too, joining up as a Player Advocate.

He started his career at Southampton in their Academy in 1999, followed by Swindon Town in 2004 and making his senior bow.

Permanent stints at Everton, Coventry City and Middlesbrough with a quartet of loan spells at Plymouth Argyle, Huddersfield Town, Motherwell and Middlesbrough all before 2012 followed before he joined the Teessiders on a permanent basis.

Burnley and Bolton then came calling for his services before he found his home at Birmingham, being with the Midlanders since 2017.

Affectionately known as ‘Jukey’ to Blues fans, he cited hearing experiences some supporters have gone through, just to watch football as the reason he got involved.

“I wanted to join this campaign after hearing the experiences of some supporters and the hurdles that they have had to overcome to come and support their team and watch the sport they love.

“I think we have a fantastic sport that should be available to as many people as possible. Everybody has the right to enjoy the game we all love without being made to feel like they don’t belong.”

Our Director, Emily Drakeley, Birmingham City fan had her say on the announcement, which she reveals that he actively searched and asked to be involved in the campaign.

“I am absolutely thrilled that Lukas Jutkiewicz has become our player advocate. Lukas actively asked us to be involved within the campaign, which shows his dedication to our cause.”

As a Blues fan too, this one is exceptionally cool for Drakeley.

“Having a Birmingham City legend on board means a lot to me as a football fan and a campaign director!”
