COLCHESTER UNITED PARTNERSHIP COMPLETES LEAGUE TWO SUPPORT

Writer: Archie ToothArchie Tooth

Colchester United have pledged their support for Her Game Too, meaning all 24 clubs in League Two are now partnered with the campaign.

The Essex side are the 80th of the 92 Premier League and English Football League clubs to ally with Her Game Too, joining forces with the campaign to ensure football provides a positive and inclusive environment for women and girls.

The U’s Community Foundation’s values are ‘to inspire, enrich and unite our communities’, aligning perfectly with Her Game Too’s principles to help create amazing experiences in sport, no matter what your gender or ethnicity.

Colchester United fan Louise Harris will be spearheading the promotion of the campaign at the JobServe Community Stadium as the club’s new Her Game Too Ambassador.

Louise said: “I am really proud and excited to be Colchester United’s Her Game Too Ambassador.

“I’ve supported Colchester United for as long as I can remember and experienced the highs of Wembley twice - including nine minutes of magic when we were beating Chelsea and getting promoted to the Championship!

“I am really passionate about the club and want to make it as safe and comfortable for all female fans to attend games.

“We have such an amazing, loyal fan base and a real family friendly feel at the club.

“The work done by the club, our U's Community Foundation and the BWA (Blue and White Army) to make match days special is something every fan should be proud of.

“I know a lot of our players, staff and fans have daughters and, as a mum myself, I’m sure we all feel it is really important to bring them up knowing everyone is welcome at our football games.

“I can’t wait to get started and plan our first Her Game Too dedicated fixture at Colchester United.”

Louise will work closely with the club to champion the campaign's philosophy and help ensure there is a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for all.

Colchester United’s Head of Media, David Gregory, said: “We are delighted to be working with Her Game Too, an organisation that has been doing a fantastic job in helping to create inclusive and supportive environments across football and sport.

“Colchester United as a club have always welcomed everyone to the JobServe Community Stadium, and the link up with Her Game Too will solidify that strongly-held belief that football is a sport for all.

“Having worked in football previously and now attending both the men’s and women’s games home and away with her daughter, we think that Louise Harris will be the perfect ambassador for us and Her Game Too.

“We look forward to a positive and productive future with Her Game Too and welcome them into the Colchester United family.”
