Riverside Sports Bar x Welsh Sports Fans, recently named the Best Sports Bar at the Welsh Hospitality Awards 2023 - beating Gareth Bale's Eleven’s bar in Cardiff - has quickly become a second home for many sports fans in and around Newport.
Known for its lively atmosphere and commitment to creating a welcoming environment, the bar is now taking an even bigger step in inclusivity.
In partnership with Her Game Too Cymru, Riverside Sports Bar x WSF has pledged to support the campaign’s mission to eradicate sexism in sports. This collaboration reflects the bar's dedication to ensuring a safe and inclusive space for all sports enthusiasts, particularly women and girls. With a zero-tolerance policy towards sexism, Riverside is committed to fostering an environment where everyone can enjoy watching their favourite sports without fear of discrimination or harassment.
The partnership not only highlights Riverside's values but also marks a significant moment in the movement towards gender equality in sports, promoting respect and inclusivity within sporting communities across Wales.
Director of WFF Sports Bars, Daniel Harris, spoke about the partnership:
"At Riverside Sports Bar x WSF we are always looking to provide every sport for every fan, and this important partnership with Her Game Too [Cymru] shows our commitment to engaging with women’s sport and local women’s sports clubs. We’d love to see more women coming to watch the football with us and having a great time."
The bar will undertake training from Her Game Too Cymru Ambassadors to ensure their staff are aware of what sexism is, its many different forms and signs to look out for if anybody is feeling uncomfortable.
Very soon, the bar will signpost Her Game Too Cymru's reporting system should anybody witness or experience discrimination during their time at the venue.
