Ambassador
Kate Smith
I am Kate. A born and bred South-East Londoner but I would describe myself as a London Girl with a Northern Soul as I love Liverpool and it is my 2nd home.
I have been coming to Dulwich Hamlet since roughly 2012 but in more recent years I have become a season ticket holder alongside my Fiancé, in laws and nephew. We can all be found at Champion Hill most weekends cheering the boys (and girls on a Sunday) in Pink and Blue on as part of The Rabble.
I am a massive football fan and have been since I was a kid. I have fond memories of going to Anfield with my Dad for my first football game. Now, my love of football is deep rooted, I will often try to combine my love of travel with visiting a new stadium and watching a game in a different town or city. I have held 2 jobs at football clubs as well so much is my love of the game. Now I work in radio advertising but my weekends are very much football based. You could say I have lived much of my life around a football fixture list.
Becoming a Her Game Too Ambassador was a no brainer for me. I want to see more women enjoying and participating in the game both on and off the pitch. I have 3 nieces and I would love them to be part of a world where enjoying football is seen as the norm rather than the exception for women, different to how it was when I was growing up. I want to help be part of the change within football that allows women to be able to express an opinion on the game without the "get back in the kitchen" rhetoric or being told the only reason women like football or want to work in it is because they want to become a WAG or see men take their shirts off at the end of the game.
The experience at Dulwich Hamlet is unlike any other, we are a very inclusive club and already attract many female football fans, families both young and old and even the odd dog or two can be found enjoying a Saturday or Sunday afternoon on the sidelines at Champion Hill. I am proud to be associated with Dulwich Hamlet, feel free to get in touch if you would like to come to a game and meet up but be quick as while we may be a non-league club we regularly get crowds of over 3000 people and sell out! Long may it continue!
