Her Game Too Champions
Professional advocates working as players and managers are crucial in championing the message of equality. Their influential voices and visible positions can challenge longstanding stereotypes and inspire widespread change both within the football and in broader society. By standing in solidarity with Her Game Too and promoting equal opportunities, they help to foster a more inclusive environment, ensuring that the message of equality reaches a diverse and extensive audience. Furthermore, they serve as positive role models to fans who might not yet believe in gender equality in football, demonstrating through their actions and words that fairness and inclusivity are fundamental values that enhance the entire footballing community.

"Having two daughters myself, I was more than happy to put my name forward. Women have a massive place in football, not just playing but watching, commentating, punditry – whatever it may be. I want my daughters and other young women and girls to have the same opportunity as I have had and to be able to enjoy the game in a safe environment where they always feel they belong. Football is a game for everyone and, as a club, we have taken positive strides to promote inclusion across sport and society. Supporting campaigns like this one can only help spread that message further."

"I’ve always followed the work of Her Game Too with great admiration. The narrative around the women’s game has started to change for the better in recent years, partly due to the work of Her Game Too but also because of the success of the Lionesses and continued growth of the Barclays Women’s Super League. However, we all know there’s still a way to go. I’m looking forward to driving further discussion and education regarding sexism within football and wider society. To do so alongside Seamus and on behalf of everybody connected with Everton is a great honour.”

"The thought of women feeling uncomfortable at a game of football is something I can't believe still exists. The awareness and movement created by Her Game Too is fantastic but there is still a long way to go. Football is for everyone. That is why I support Her Game Too."

"I grew up in Zambia where my mum played football despite being discouraged from playing when she was younger. When I moved to Wales and saw football on the TV, I knew I wanted to be a footballer and never realised the influence my mum had on my career choice. I want to use my platform to support Her Game Too and highlight the issues women still face today."

“I’m really pleased to join the Her Game Too team at Hartlepool United – it’s a campaign the Club have worked closely with over the last few years. We want to take huge strides in stopping the discrimination that comes unnecessarily with the game. I want to be a part of females feeling confident and proud of playing and watching the game we all love.”

"Having a little girl, a wife, a mum – a lot of important women in my life – I thought it was something that I wanted to do. I was the first player to be a Player Advocate and there are quite a few who have followed now, so it’s something I’m proud to do and I’ll try to get involved where I can. Blackpool partnered with Her Game Too in June last year, as part of the club’s aim to actively promote females getting involved in playing, coaching and supporting football."

“It’s great to be a Her Game Too champion because I can help promote and educate everyone about the female game. I feel proud that I can use my voice and experiences to support others. The initiatives within the female game are brilliant. The opportunities, role models and facilities for young girls are appearing within local areas. It’s great to see that barriers are being knocked down and a safe, welcoming environment for young girls is being provided. The foundations and platforms are being laid for future young girls to enjoy!”

“I’m a big believer that you have a platform as a footballer, especially in a city like Bradford where everyone in this city loves football. We’re a League Two club and we were getting 20,000 on the gate at some games last season, so I see myself as having a responsibility to be a role model and boost inclusion. I feel that’s an important part of my job – not just keeping the ball out of the net on a Saturday – but there’s an impact I believe I and other members of the squad can have on Bradford City and the wider footballing community."

"I am absolutely honoured to be a player advocate at Bradford City for Her Game Too. Football is, ultimately, a game for everyone to enjoy, regardless of characteristics. We have a duty as players and fans to ensure all female supporters feel safe going to watch football and that discrimination is kicked out. My partner and daughter come to the game to support me, and it’s vital that they are safe when doing so. There’s still plenty of work to be done, but we’re certainly heading in the right direction. With the work Her Game Too is doing across the country and in other sports, there’s no reason why we can’t achieve the end goal if we all pull together to help. Dhriti and Laura do a superb job on behalf of Bradford City, and I am looking forward to working with them over the course of the season."

"It’s been a real honour to be one of the advocates for Her Game Too at Gillingham FC. It’s something that means a lot to me personally, having two young girls that have a real interest in football and come to watch a lot of games, it’s important that they feel in safe environment and that they are welcome in the football community. Gillingham have been 1st class in promoting Her Game Too and are very pro active with the campaign. It’s been really nice to see lots of girls and women at the games and to hear how it’s benefited their match day experience.
Being a dad of two girls this is something that matters a lot to me. You want football to be able to be enjoyed by everyone and I’m very happy to be on board with this initiative."

"I feel like what we are all trying to do is make football grounds as equal as possible for both men/women boys/girls. Football is for everyone and we want everyone to be able to come to a game, feel safe and enjoy the experience."

"It’s been 13 years now I’ve been involved in female football and I take a keen interest in anything that shows support for the female game because I'm passionate about promoting it. I’ve got two daughters and I've always been very passionate about them being able to be what they want to be in life. Unfortunately there's still a lot of stereotyping of women's football and women being at football and watching it. I just think if people broaden their horizons a little bit and saw what was out there, I'd like to think they’d think differently."

"With the growth of women's football, it is increasingly important to leave the game in a better state than I inherited it. Through playing football and pushing for better standards at the clubs I've played at, I feel I’ve made a positive impact. However, being a Her Game Too Player Advocate allows me to more directly influence the perception of women within football - creating a better space for all women and girls.'

"I want to be a Player Advocate for a variety of reasons - firstly, being a female footballer at Cambridge United, I’ve had a fantastic experience of what this club can provide for the women’s game, but I also feel I can do more. Secondly, being a PE teacher, I feel that my role is to educate young people to not only be physically active, but also to strive to become well-rounded and considerate individuals in the world of sport, physical activity and life in general. I feel that I can use my experiences in a school setting and at football to help promote the values of Her Game Too."

"I am very proud and honoured to be the Northampton Town Her Game Too Player Advocate. Her Game Too is a very important campaign that the club fully supports and if I can add my name to help that support grow, it is a very worthwhile thing to do. The campaign is growing quickly and I believe it is important to have player advocates to show that as players we fully support the aims and intentions of the campaign."

"To be able to represent the club and try and raise as much awareness as possible is really important and I think I'm the right person at the club to do that. I just want to help really. I want to help women get the recognition they deserve and help grow their game. I feel like, because I'm from the local area and I play for a professional football team, I am a role model, so if I can set the example to not just those close to me but to everyone else in my life, everyone that follows me on social media, I hope they'd follow suit and show women in football the respect they deserve."

"I'm really pleased to take up this role as the club's #HerGameToo advocate to help spread awareness of what they are trying to do. As someone with a young daughter, if she ever wanted to play football I don't understand why that should ever be an issue. If they want to watch or support football then they shouldn't face discrimination. In my opinion it's absolutely barbaric that you can be abused in a sporting environment because you're a woman, so I'm really pleased to support the campaign. All of us at the club are supporting the cause and we will support it as much as we can. It's vitally important we do."

"This cause means a lot to me. Having a younger sister who adores football, and has followed football all of her life. Watching some of the things that she has had to overcome, and hearing some of the things she has seen and heard in stadiums and on social media, I’ve always wanted to be able to fight for her and other women who have experienced these tough times whilst playing, watching or coaching football. Where we are now is a major step forward from where we were maybe five or ten years ago, but there’s still much more to be done, and for people to learn, grow and be educated. I hold this cause really close to my heart, and we will keep raising awareness and improving day by day."

"I was lucky enough to start my footballing journey when women’s football had a platform, and although it has come on leaps and bounds since then, there is still so much more to come from it. The Her Game Too movement is incredibly inspiring & has done wonders for raising awareness and removing stereotypes. I’m so proud to be a Player Advocate and I hope that my voice can inspire the younger generation, and let them know that women’s football deserves to be recognised too."

Manager Advocate
Lucy Clark
"Football is for women as much as it is for anyone else, and no women should feel that they cannot partake in football because of their gender in whatever role they would like. Women should be able to go and support their team just like everyone else, express their opinion and not feel that their opinion does not matter or is less relevant. I want everyone to support Her Game Too and for our club to continue showing its support for the campaign, to make sure that all women are welcome at our club - whether that be as a supporter or by taking roles within the club.It is an honour and a privilege to be a Her Game Too Manager Advocate and if I can play just a small part in making football a more inclusive place, then I am proud to do this."

Player Advocate
Brad Walker
"I think it’s a massive chance to get involved in the campaign and promote it. I think the women’s game is at a really good stage now, the way it’s developing. To help promote it and play my part is massive. The platform I’ve got, being a professional footballer, I can help many young kids, men or women, to join the game and hopefully my messages can be heard loud and clear so plenty more young women can join the game.”

"I'm delighted to be a Her Game Too advocate for the forthcoming season. The Women's game in this country is coming on in leaps and bounds, and it's become an essential part of our football fabric."

"Having a young daughter myself, I want her to grow up into a world where women in sport are given the respect that they deserve. Football is a game for all and should not be subject to gender division so as a HGT advocate, I want to do all that I can to help promote the women’s game and encourage inclusion in sport. HGT have made huge strides in raising the profile of the women’s game and I hope to be able to add to the great work that they have already done in the coming years"
