AFC Bournemouth: Welcome
Ambassador
Nataly Mason
I’m Nataly Mason, originally from Manchester but have called Carlisle home for the past 21 years. I work as a hairdresser and am happily married with a beautiful daughter named Esmae-Rose.
As the Women and Girls Rep for Carlisle United, my passion for football has been a lifelong journey. I started playing at about six years old and continued throughout school. Unfortunately, after school, there were no opportunities for girls to continue playing, so I had to stop. Six years ago, I decided to return to the sport I love after a 15-year hiatus. I reached out to Tracy Gannon, the manager of Carlisle United Ladies, and attended a training session. It was the best decision I ever made!
The girls at Carlisle United Ladies are more than just teammates—they're a football family. We've faced tough times but always come out stronger on the other side. I am quite versatile to my position. I love playing on the wing. I had the honor of captaining the development team during the summer league. Unfortunately, a severe ankle injury 14 months ago has kept me from playing since then.
Football for girls has evolved significantly, especially with the success of the Lionesses, which has had a tremendously positive impact on the sport. I’m excited to watch my daughter, Esmae-Rose, grow in her football journey, with far more opportunities than I had at her age. I believe football is a game for everyone, and no one should be told otherwise.
Additionally, I coach my daughter’s football team, nurturing the next generation of players.
One of my favourite moments with Carlisle United was attending Wembley in May 2023 and witnessing our promotion to League One on penalties. It was an unforgettable experience!
